What we collect
When you send an enquiry we typically receive your name, email address, optional consultation preference, preferred meeting window, and the content of your message. If you become a client, we collect additional information needed to provide regulated advice — for example financial statements, identification documents, and records of meetings — under a separate client agreement.
Purposes and lawful bases
- Responding to enquiries — legitimate interests in operating an advice practice, and steps prior to entering a contract
- Delivering agreed consultations — performance of a contract
- Meeting regulatory record-keeping duties — legal obligation
- Optional analytics cookies where accepted — consent (see our Cookies page)
Retention
Enquiry messages that do not become client engagements are usually retained for up to twenty-four months. Client files are retained for the periods required by financial services regulation and our professional indemnity insurers, which may extend several years after an engagement ends. Cookie identifiers follow the durations listed on the Cookies page.
Your rights
Depending on applicable UK data protection law, you may have rights to access, rectify, erase, or restrict processing of your personal data, to object to certain processing, and to data portability. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw consent without affecting prior lawful processing. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
International transfers
We primarily store and process data within the United Kingdom. If a provider hosts data outside the UK, we ensure appropriate safeguards such as adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses are in place before transfer.
Sharing
We do not sell personal data. We may share information with IT hosting providers, professional advisers, or regulators where necessary to operate the site, deliver advice, or comply with law. Introductions to solicitors or accountants occur only with your knowledge.
